Magnifier and switching imput image

Would it be possible (and make sense) to have a switch in a magnifier, so that open images could be flicked in there, in the same zoom centre position (or if thay are not the same size, perhaps in proportional zoom centre position). I was hoping that this could be a relatively simple way to compare two images in eg. 1:1.

Note: it is possible to do that already via Composite, flicking 0 and 100% amount by Shift-clicking on a overlay image button, and seeing the preview, but it's such a common procedure that I'm relaying on that having to invoke Composite to do that may be somewhat cumbersome sometimes...
