Thought I have done this operation before, but does not seem to work now.

Opened two images (base and overlay) for a composite.
Made a mask for overlay image.
Clicked on Base and brought up Composite dialogue.
Identified overlay image.
When I click on mask for overlay, the only two options are Help and New Mask. The mask is not an option.
When I click on mask for the base image, the options include the mask.
Any reason why I can't use the mask in the overlay mask position?

Tried this with last PWP version, then downloaded latest version, with same results.

How did you make the mask?

There are two reasons a mask might not show up:

1) The mask is not an 8-bit image the same size as the image it is being applied to

2) The mask is located depends on the current transformation as this would create a circular reference

If you post a small screen shot of the image browser, I can see what you are doing.

The problem is not related to 1. so may be the second reason (as I don't know understand enough about this new system).

Actually, what you are doing should have worked -- I have fixed the problem for the next release.

In the meantime as a workaround, if you save the mask in a file (click the gear icon in the mask dialog box and select Save mask as image file) and then open the mask image file, you should be able to use it.

A even simpler workaround is to not use the Masks transformation to create the mask, but instead to just select New Mask for the Overlay Mask control and create the mask there.

The screenshot I sent was just a quick workflow that I did to illustrate my initial workflow. And in the initial workflow, I actually did eventually save the mask as an image (after I tried what I described) as I intend to use it on other images.
