Cloning moving unpainted pixels

Post by Robert Schleif »

I am finding that cloning is slightly moving pixels of the image being cloned to even though they lie outside the white circle that to me indicates the outer limit of the cloning brush size. I wish it wouldn't do this.

I'm not sure what you mean -- can you give me an example?

I have attached a screenshot. When cloning (left mouse button depressed) from the upper circle to the lower circle and dragging the lower circle to the right and parallel to the line of the ice crystals but leaving space between the crystals and the lower circle, as you move past the crystals, they move perhaps 5 or 10 pixels away from the circle.

It looks like the same issue I raised a few years back.

When zoomed in and cloning, the cursor pushes the pixels in front and sides like a ship making a "bow wave" as it moves forward. At least that was the way I described it at that time.

Yes, in some cases there is a very slight, temporary distortion of the output image as you clone -- the correct image is restored when you release the mouse button to terminate the stroke. This is a consequence of some slightly imperfect performance optimizations designed to keep the tool responsive.
