Preventing Unwanted Changes
Sometimes as you make a color or brightness adjustment it
will affect colors other than the ones you intended to alter. In most cases,
this is easily fixed -- all you have to do is create a new control point by
clicking on a part of the input image that you don't want to change, and leave
the new control point where it is. This tells Color Mechanic that you don't
want to change the color you selected, and it will be left unmodified.
In the previous example, you may have noticed a slight reddening of the skin
tones when we changed the scarf from purple to red or a slight lightening of
the cap when we increased the brightness of the scarf to make it a lighter red.
To prevent these changes, just click once on the girl's face to lock down the
skin tones and once on the cap to make sure it stays the same. This adds two
new control points as shown below:
