Compressed (Lossless) TIFF vs. Embedded Preview Thumnail

When I save files to lossless compressed tiff format, the preview thumbnail is not regenerated to reflect changes made to the image - it continues to reflect the original image prior to any editing. I prefer the lossless compressed TIFF format to reduce the disk space footprint.

This makes it difficult to visually pick out the desired intermediate or alternative final version of these TIFF files for further processing or printing using Windows or image browsing features within other programs (for example, IMatch in my case).

Is there a way to regenerate (or just remove) the preview thumbnail image? Is there an external utility that might do this, interactive or command line batch?

Many thanks in advance.
