LAT and Text

As an aside and addition to my last post in the other thread, both that post and opening the forum this time, worked with no hesitation. Weird.

Anyway, one of the reasons I tried Text, then went and tried LAT, is I am adding text to some images and the texts are a number of short paragraphs that I wish to place in various spots in the document, not just left side as a regular text document would be. But I want some of these paragraphs to be evenly spaced from the document edges as well as some centred.

The only way I can figure how to do this is

1. Do a high number grid (both dimensions) to the image > OK.
2. Open Text and place a paragraph as closely lined up to a grid line on the grid image using the bounding box edge as reference > OK.
3. Open the main image and use the "previous settings" in the Text dialogue to place the text in that image.
4. Wash, rinse and repeat for each new paragraph location.

It appears the only Alignment available has to do with how the text is aligned within the bounding box, so I can't figure out an easy way to auto align the box within the image. Is the above method the only/best way?

If it is, I would perhaps suggest that at least the ability to horizontally centre a paragraph bounding box (for headings etc) would be a welcome addition to the dialogues. I should also mention, although this is a very minor nit, that the centre of the bounding box in the Text and LAT are different as one is a lined square while the other is a fairly large black dot. I find the square much easier to line up with the grid lines. Once again, minor nit.

You might have better luck using the Layout transformation as it makes it easier to line things up. If you set the Layout background to the image you want to apply text to and set the width, height and dpi to match the background image, you can then add panels containing text and line them up using a snap grid or by specifying their coordinates.

Thanks, I will try that.
