An update is available to Version 8.0.507 (23-May-2025)
Download Link: https://www.dl-c.com/Downloads.html

The changes (taken from the update log) are:

Copy transformation: Original Pathname now recognized even if Copy has more than one active input.

When the Image Browser horizontal scroll bars are active and a transformation is selected by clicking on it or using the arrow keys, the current thumbnail is always positioned at the left edge of the available space. You can still scroll manually using the scroll bars, in which case the current transformation can be scrolled out of view.

Added new Projection transformation under Geometry. This lets you remap rectilinear images to cylindrical or spherical perspective.

Mask: Removed Pixels in Color Range option from the Mask Paint tool. In pre-existing scripts it is now treated like All Pixels.

Is there another masking technique that could replace it? I don't mask that often but remember it coming handy before.

First paint a crude mask covering all the area you want to mask, including the interspersed areas you want to exclude.

Next bring up the Color Range mask tool and create a range for the area and, before finalizing it, set the mode to Overlap. This will remove the parts of the painted mask whose color fall outside the color range since in Overlap mode the mask is only light where the old mask and new mask are both light.

Or, I suppose you could start with the color range and then use the freehand lasso or paint in Subtract mode to remove what you don't want.
