Cropping in Batch

I have a batch that produces 800 by 600 px images. I crop it to 4x3 ratio, but I don't think the batch extends the crop rectangle to its maximum size for each image in the batch when this option is checked.

Some images are vertical. Would it be possible to also autodetect the orientation and choose the Portrait or Landscape option accordingly?

Have you tried resizing the "Long side" to 800 px ?

A capability for expressing a bounding box as Long and Short sides would be useful.

I can choose 'long side' or 'tall' for resizing, but I have to choose Portrait or Landscape for the cropping box orientation when the side-ratio is fixed, unless there is a way of automating it somehow? And I still have trouble resetting the cropping box for each of the images in the batch. It's that I have quite a few images to process and I need to adjust a few things by hand as my relationship very much depends on the quality of the final product. I'm trying to optimise the clicking effort without compromising the quality too much.

For the next release I fixed a problem in Crop with the Reset Cropping Rectangle in Batch Mode command in the Settings Menu.

Also, for what you are trying to do I recommend using Size to Fit with the Size to Fill option instead of Crop. For the next release, Size to Fit has an Autorotate check box which addresses the landscape/portrait problem, and I also fixed some other problems with it.
