Which mask tool were you using?

I was using color range, value slider. I also clicked the control labeled [16]. The crash may have occurred following that click.

I am not seeing a crash when I use the color range tool here.

I did find a possibly related problem when applying 16-bit masks to 16-bit images which is fixed for the next release.
