I was able to use the script attachment, and I also now know how to save as a text file, if I ever run across that need in the future.
I played with both methods, but I had issues with getting the right color/blend and preventing it from spreading too far into other areas of the image, so I took an image using the quoted techniques and masked part of that into the original image. Turned out reasonably well.
