Is there a summary of the functions of all the different alt/shift/ctrl vs mouse buttons? Same question
for any keyboard shortcuts?

In the help file index you should see, about halfway down, Keyboard Shortcuts which lists much of what you are asking for.

Generally, the effects of shift and ctrl mouse operations in the main image area depend on the current transformation or tool so it would not make sense to list them.
