Scenario using the paint tool.

When the mouse hovers over the preview display, the mouse wheel is initially unable to control the brush radius.

For example, using the brush to shed a soft light on some areas. The user hovers over the image and sprinkles light using left mouse clicks.
The radius control often re-enables itself after clicking ; however, the user needs to set the radius before clicking and dragging.

Sometimes during use, the mouse wheel becomes inactive again.

I tried exactly that and the scroll wheel worked right away, but I will have a look at the code to see if I can see any possible way this could happen.

Does it act like the radius is changing but the display is not being updated or like it is ignoring the mouse wheel?

Is the radius slider moving but the brush circle is not changing?

The radius is not changing, neither on the display, nor the slider in the tool dialog area.

When I bring the brush over the display area, the mouse wheel is ignored ; however, changing the radius using a two-finger zooming gesture on the touchpad is effective.

The radius is not changing, neither on the display, nor the slider in the tool dialog area.

When I bring the brush over the display area, the mouse wheel is ignored ; however, changing the radius using a two-finger zooming gesture on the touchpad is effective.
Sometimes, after clicking with the mouse, while the mouse is immobile, the radius disappears. However, the slider does move with no feedback on the display. Any slight move of the mouse brings back the radius circle.
