I'm wondering if there is much difference between adjusting contrast with HSV-V or HSL-L curves then adjusting WB with, say, Adjust\Color Tab (Hue+Saturation) and doing that in the reverse order? Would those two operations be "commutative" (fancy word) for images with sufficient bit depth?

The operations are not commutative, but for most images the differences should be very minor.
