To reproduce:

1. Open PWP 8 (Rev. 164)
2. Create the Test Pattern Checkerboard image.
3. Open the Mask Transformation.
4. Select New Mask
5. Select the Mask Paint Tool
6. Click the Mask Paint Tool on the image without moving the Mask Tool.
7. Note that no mask appears.

Just made a mask on a jpg image with the brush & works fine here. Try bumping up the tool radius, the default is very small. Bob
