An update is available to Version 8.0.146 (12-Sep-2020)

The changes (taken from the update log) are:

Added basic support for opening raw files via the File Open command (and its variants) by incorporating LibRaw.dll, a copy of which is now installed alongside PWP. This library is updated from time to time to support new cameras, but there are typically delays before the latest cameras are supported. The list of currently supported cameras can be viewed at https://www.libraw.org/supported-cameras. Raw files are currently read without modification, like what you would get from dcraw using its default settings, you can modify them later using PWP’s transformations. No corrections are made for lens distortion, light falloff or chromatic aberration, and no ICC profile is assigned to the image. I have not yet added code to extract metadata so it will not show up under Image Info. However, metadata should be copied from the raw file by ExifTool when you save the image as a TIFF or JPEG. I will be adding support for at least some metadata in future releases and consequently image appearance may change slightly, so I recommend considering this a test feature and not using it for production processing yet. Previous support for DNG files via Adobe’s DNG codec has been removed – DNG files are now supported as raw files.

Tuned quick pick grayed-out colors for better appearance and removed Adjust Tool button that should not have been there.

The first comment on experimental LibRaw implementation: it converts CR2 relatively nicely (RAF a little less so, but still ok) with its default settings, but the resulting image is 24 bit. Wouldn't 48 bit as a default be better so to allow for a greater range of PWP processing afterward?

Also, as the feature develops, could extracting embedded JPG be considered as an option (I'm not sure if LibRaw can do it but I know that ExifTool can)?

Fixed the 24-bit output problem for the next release -- I hadn't noticed it.
