Math of blending in Composite

Post by tomczak »

In Composite Help, there are formulas quoted for some of the blending modes. Others, such as Soft Light and Hard Light can be found e.g. here:

http://www.pegtop.net/delphi/articles/blendmodes/

I presume that this is close to how PWP implements them. The calculations are given for single channel (monochrome) images.

What happens when either an input image, or an overlay image (or both) are 3-channel colour images? Are those formulas applied separately on each of the RGB channels?

Cheers!
