filenames with period (dot) in filename

If a filename contains a period, when it is saved back, the period and what follows is ignored foir creating a version of the filename.

Example:

• File "test.suffix.jpg" is opened
• Command File>Save back suggests the filename "test v1.jpg" in the dialog box

Suggestion : Append the version to the full Filename, for example command File>Save back would suggest the filename "test.suffix v1.jpg"
