Scale in Line and Arrow
This is an oddball idea - mostly because I had to do something like this annotating an image: would it be useful to have an option in Line and Arrow that would divide a line into n divisions, creating a scale? This kind of can be done already with Grid transformation, but only vertically or horizontally...

This could be implemented, but I'm not sure if it would get enough use to justify the effort. If you create or scan a ruler image, you can always composite it precisely onto another image using 2-point alignment.
On a slightly different note, I have often thought about implementing a ruler tool that you could use to measure the distance between two points in pixels or physical units.

On the ruler:
The Readout tool already reads the coordinates of a click (in pixel or physical units), in the input or output preview windows, and at all zooms. Perhaps something like this could work? Shift-clicking would remember the coordinates of the click and the following click somewhere else would display the distance between the two?

A comment on Readout: when a transformation dialog box is open, the caption in Readout on the top displays the name of the transformation when clicked on the output preview window. It is blank when clicked on the input window (I kind of expected that it would either do the same or display the name of the previous transformation or the name of the top-most input image).
