Hello. Open heic format image in v233 and see black box. Upgrade to current v244 - same result. Convert image to jpg with a web converter worked OK. Went to MS store to install HEIC extension (store says it is installed), install anyway, restart PW, try again with same result.
Next, I install the Heic image viewer from MS store. That converts file correctly. Restart PW, try file|open again with same result.
Windows 10 v21H1.
Thx, Bob

Re: heic image
PW v8.0.241, that is.
Re: heic image
It works OK here.
Make sure you install HEIC Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store. You may also need to install the HEVC Video Extensions (see below).
From the description of HEIC Image Extension...
The HEIF Image Extension enables Windows 10 devices to read and write files that use the High Efficiency Image File (HEIF) format. Such files can have a .heic or .heif file extension.
Images that are stored in HEIF files that have the .heic file extension are compressed using the HEVC format. Such files require the HEVC Video Extensions package to be installed as well. If the HEVC Video Extensions package is not installed, the HEIF Image Extension will not be able to read or write .heic files.

Re: heic image
Yes indeed - needed that HEVC codec, works now.
To test, R click on heic image and select 'open with..'; then select 'Photos.' If you need this HEVC codec, you will see the popup message.
Purchase & Install HEVC Video Extension from MS store ($1.00). Now R click on image opens image. Image opens in PW.
-- There apparently used to be a free version of the HEVC codec on MS store, but it is no longer available.
Thanks.
