Clone Tool

Post by Marpel »

Latest version.

I often make, sometimes subtle, changes to an image, via some Transform. I then use the Clone Tool to clone parts of the new image back into the old image, with the brush set to a high transparency and softness. I may go over certain areas a couple or more times, building up the effect, until it seems right. I find this method more conducive to the way I work, than doing a mask during the Transform.

In the Clone Help file Tips, it notes " Try to use as few strokes as possible - over working an area can muddy the image". What does this actually mean and is it applicable to the noted method?

What you are doing is fine -- the comment applies more to cloning with a low transparency to remove or replace something in the image you want to get rid of. Sometimes if you keep cloning over the same area it starts to turn to mush and no longer blends in well with its surrounding pixels.
