The new brush shapes for painting and cloning are very nice. Might it be possible to equip the paintbrush in mask with the same capabilities?
When cloning or painting with the square brush at 100%, 75% and 50% width using any of the angled orientations except N-S and E-W, the corners of the brush leave behind a temporary trail of white pixels.
The new tool capabilities would be still easier to use if the white outline (currently a rectangle) indicating the likely area of the tool's effect were very close to the tool's actual area of effect. That is, when tool is pointed for going into a corner, have the white outline be appropriately pointed.
Slight problem with new brushes

Re: Slight problem with new brushes
Extending the brush shapes to Mask would be a lot more work that it was for the transformations since Mask does not support any brush shapes and the mask paint code is not designed to work with anything but round brushes.
I fixed the problem causing the white pixels to be left behind for next release.
The outline of the brush overlay should accurately reflect the location of the brush, assuming softness is set to 0. As you increase softness, the edge of the brush has a reduced but non-zero effect.

If it is not feasible to make that outline be arrow shaped, perhaps it would be possible to give it a centerline to assist painting in a tight corner?

Have you tried switching to the narrow diamond shape?

OK. Thanks. I should have checked beyond the square brush. The circular and diamond brushes perform as needed and the behavior of the square brush is sensible.
