Update Available - Version 8.0.194

Post by jsachs »

An update is available to Version 8.0.194 (27-Jan-2021)

The changes (taken from the update log) are:

Compass control now has an angle readout in the center and lets you enter angles in degrees. Compass controls are currently used in the Drop Shadow control and the Emboss and Linear Blur transformations.

Drag and Drop files: If you drop files into the main image area, each one becomes a new top-level image (unless they are already open). If you drop files into a File Open dialog box (the PWP dialog box, not the Windows dialog box), the pathnames of the files are added to the current file list. Previously, this happened if a File Open dialog box was open and you dropped files into the main image area.

Pasting files now supports the format used by Windows Explorer and FastStone, namely CF_HDROP. This is similar to drag and drop in that only the pathnames are placed on the clipboard. The advantage of this clipboard format is that it can handle large files efficiently since it does not need to make copies of the image data. Although you can copy multiple image files to the clipboard in CF_HDROP format, Picture Window can only paste one image at a time – to copy multiple files use drag and drop.

Added a new Edit command: Drop Files from Clipboard – this is grayed out unless a pathname list is on the clipboard in CF_HDROP format. If there is a pathname list, it simulates dragging and dropping the files in the list into the main image area or, if a File Open dialog box is currently open, into the File Open dialog box.

Monochrome transformation: the 8/16 buttons are now hidden unless the input image is 8 bits/channel.

I experienced a tiny glitch:
I tried to do a screenshot by <ctrl> <print>, but the Paste image from clipboard remains greyed-out.
It seemes to me that the "old" cut and past, does not work any more.

Fixed for next release. In the meantime, the Paste button on the main tool bar works correctly.
