Actually, whan asking for an 8x8 grid : only 7x7 grid is displayed. See screen capture below :

... not quite : using PWP8 with smooth scrolling : perimeter pixels not fully displayed (about half only).
and pixels are misaligned with an 8x8 grid.

readout tool : while left button is pressed, the readout message window generally follows the pointer.
However, the behaviour is erratic when the pointer is dragged along the edge of the image
