Re: Vista 64 bit and PWP5

It works well with Vista 64-bit (but still runs as a 32-bit application and thus does not take advantage of the larger available address space potentially available).

Re: Profile mechanic scanner and 64 bit

While I have not actually tried it, I would be very surprised if there was a problem. In the unlikely event that one showed up we would fix it promptly.

Re: Printing correct colors

As you mention, you should be using ICM. Problems with prints looking too dark usually stem from profiles being made with as assumption of prints being viewed in bright light - if you take you print outdoors you may find it looks a lot better. Chrome 2000 was designed to just capture the entire gamut of slide film. Unfortunately I have ...

Re: Behaviour of the Colour Correction dialogue

It comes back again if you click on a control point. The value can be different for each control point.

Re: TFT monitor

While I don't have one, the Apple Cinema display is supposed to be very good and should work on a PC if you have a DVI connector. I bought a Dell 2009W a year or so ago and am not very happy with its off-axis viewing which is much worse than the Cinema display. Maybe the newer Dells are better.

Re: TIFF and LZH and ZIP compression

It can be proven mathematically that there is no compression scheme that will not enlarge some files. Both LZW and ZIP depend on finding repeating patterns within the image which may be few and far between for noisy images. They compress the most on very soft images or images with large blocks of so...

Re: 64 bit computer

I don't think so, but I haven't tried it. I seriously doubt if the drivers for the colorimeter will not install.
