Please note that WiziWYG requires Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP and is designed to work with a flatbed or other scanner capable of scanning letter-sized opaque originals.
If you ordered a copy of WiziWYG from us or directly from Praxisoft, you should have received a 5"x7" IT8 test target that looks something like this:

Note that near the bottom of the test target are a set of numbers such as "2000:11" -- these numbers identify the batch of targets your target was manufactured in. Each batch of targets requires its own calibration file which is used to adjust for minor manufacturing variations. Having identified the batch number, the next step is to download the reference file for your target. These reference files can be obtained from Praxisoft's web site by clicking on the following link (make sure you download the Windows and not the Mac reference file):
WiziWYG and WiziWYG Reference Files
A copy of WiziWYG 1.05 is included on the Picture Window Pro CD-ROM in a folder called "Praxisoft WIZIWYG 1.0.5". The latest version of WiziWYG is also available free from Praxisoft's web site from the same location as the reference files.
Once you install and run WiziWYG on your computer and have the necessary reference file, you are ready to start calibrating your monitor, printer and flatbed scanner.
You can choose to calibrate your monitor either using Picture Window's monitor calibration command and overlay or you can use WiziWYG's monitor calibration. Picture Window's calibration should be more accurate by virtue of the overlay, but if you want your calibration to work with other programs as well, you can use the WiziWYG monitor calibration instead. If you create a monitor profile using WiziWYG, make sure you select a D65 white point and a gamma of 2.2.
Once you have created your custom ICC color profiles, you can use them with Picture Window Pro by going to the File/Color Management dialog box and entering the following settings:
When printing color images, enter the name of your the printer profile you created into the Picture Window Print dialog box and make sure all your printer settings are identical to those you used when you created the printer profile. If you encounter problem when printing using your custom profile (especially with certain HP printer drivers), try going to the Help/Support Settings dialog box and unchecking the Print Using V5 Bitmaps checkbox.
When scanning color images make sure the settings you use are identical to those you used to create your scanner profile. If you use your scanner's TWAIN driver, Picture Window Pro will automatically apply the Assumed Scanner Profile (see above) to the scanned images. If you scan outside of Picture Window and save your images as files, you may need to apply the scanner profile manually. To do this, open the scanned image file and select the Transformation/Color/Change Color Profile command. Set the New color profile to your custom scanner profile, set the Rendering intent to Maintain Full Gamut, and set Change to Profile Setting Only, and then click OK. This will associate your custom scanner profile to the image file.
After reading the Color Management white paper (Color Management.pdf), you may opt to set your Working Color Space to one with a wider gamut such as Chrome 2000 D65 instead of sRGB IEC61966-2.1, but sRGB IEC61966-2.1 is a good starting point.
