A Message from the President

Hello, my name is Jonathan Sachs, and I created Picture Window so you could use your personal computer to make your photographs into the images you really want.

Picture Window is the first practical, affordable, and complete system designed especially for photography. Only recently have technological advances such as Photo CD, JPEG image compression, new color printers, and powerful, inexpensive personal computers combined to make a system like this possible. Over the next few years, we think photography, like audio before it, will go digital, but you don't have to wait that long -- Picture Window is here now.

If you're like me, you spend a lot of money on film and camera equipment, and you spend a lot of time and effort trying to take the best photographs you can. I used to think I was doing something wrong because I rarely got the same kind of perfectly exposed, deeply saturated color prints I saw reproduced in books and magazines. About five years ago, when I started using a computer to work with my photographs, I made two important discoveries. First, I found out how much fun it is to play with images on a computer. But then, much to my surprise, I also discovered I was a much better photographer than I thought -- and I know you will too.

Picture Window lets you to enjoy, share, and utilize your photography in entirely new ways. You can assemble 30 or more of your favorite images and store them, with captions and sound, on a single 3.5" floppy disk as an electronic slide show. You can send slide show disks to friends and family and they can view them using any standard web browser. You can also use Picture Window to prepare photographs for inclusion in word processing documents, brochures, or presentations, and print them on your own black and white or laser printer.

Even if you don't already own a computer, you may be surprised to discover that you can purchase a brand new system for  under $1000 that lets you get started right away making your own electronic slide shows and 8x10" color prints. And unlike a conventional darkroom, you can use that same equipment for a lot of other things like working at home, cruising the internet, managing your family finances, doing your taxes, or running multimedia educational and entertainment programs.

In short, Picture Window lets you enjoy the future of photography today. I know you'll have as much fun with your photographs as I've had with mine.
