I've been trying to download 5.0.1.7 but all I get is 5.0.1.4 -- at least that's what the About panel shows.

Your browser has probably cached an earlier version and thus is not downloading the new one. You shluld delete your brower cache and then download again. For instande in Internet Explorer to delete your cache, go to Tools/Options and select Delete Temporary Files. Make sure that the download takes at least a little time and doesn't just return instantly.

I still have the same problem -- the download link provides the wrong version.

I get the same result in Firefox and Chrome -- both with caches cleared

I also get the same result when using the 2nd download link on the DLC download page.

Surely the problem must be on the DLC site and not in my machine.

thanks for thinking about this

I have Vista Home Premium and IE8 and the download completes/installs properly...

Some additional things to check or additional information that might help:
(1) What OS do you have?
(2) Is this an update [if so record your serial number from the exiting PWP5 Help/About dialog just in case] or a 1st time trial download?
(3) Are there multiple PWP5 listings in the Control Panel/Programs folder?
(4) Are you doing a 'File Download Save' or a 'File Download Run'? Try installing from a 'File Download Save' setup file.
(5) Does the Desk Top icon link to the correct 'pw50.exe' in Program Files/Digital Light and Color/Picture Window Pro 5.0 folder? [the detail properties of 'pw50.exe' should show verison 5.0.1.7]

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

In fact, I had managed to install the correct version without realizing it in a new directory.

Just another embarrassing computer moment!

best regards
