Sharpen Window Size Memory
Make a workflow with two Sharpen widgets: e.g. first using Sharpen, second using Bilateral sharpen. Set the parameters in both. Go back to the first sharpen widget, change method to Heavy Sharpen and readjust. Go to the second sharpen widget again: the small size dialog box of the Heavy Sharpen is u...

RAW recalculation
I'm sure most RAW reculculation triggers in RAW dialog have solid programming reasons beyond my comprehension, but there is a few ideas that may make using dialog a little easier: 1) Auto Preview checkbox (like in most other transformations). For example, often a few options need to me adjusted simu...

Embedding masks in workflows: TIFF compression
Masks seem to be saved as uncompressed TIFFs when embedded in workflows. That makes workflow files considerably fatter (e.g. a 10Mp masks adds some 10Mb the workflow). Since masks are 8bit and usually contain large solid areas, they compress well and the saving speed penalty is small. Would it make ...

Re: use of EXIF info for RAW processing
Thanks Kiril, I guess what I was hoping for is to to be able apply a specific workflow (actually RAW settings only) to a RAW file, but open it in a RAW dialog, rather then bypassing it. RAW already has a configureable camera settings and default RAW settings, but this way one could save and reapply ...

Re: What exactly are halos?
As it is now, the Mean Image is calculated for all pixels, regardless of what's visible in preview. During beta testing, I recall Jonathan mentioning that it may be possible in the future to calculate mean image for the preview only, do adjustments, and leave the final calculations till the end. I b...

Re: use of EXIF info for RAW processing
I just complained about not being able to apply an arbitrary workflow to a RAW file while still being able to open it in RAW dialog. There is a way already, a bit indirect. Open a Workflow file in the workflow window, drop the RAW file(s) there, and double click on the RAW widget to adjust the setti...

Re: What exactly are halos?
As Den mentioned, it's easy to introduce halos when sharpening e.g. using Unsharp Mask. Such halos are symmetric about the 'edges' - the dark part of the edge is made even darker and the light part of the edge is made lighter. This, in principle, should work to increase our perception of sharpness b...

Re: Brightness curve tool tip
Mike, 'Broken Line' means that the control points are joined by the straight line segments. Since you have only two control points (the beginning and the end of the line) it results in one straight line. If you add additional control point(s), you can see the difference between the 'Broken Line' and...

Re: use of EXIF info for RAW processing
What I think Kiril is pointing to is that workflow/sidecar files can be easily used to process RAW differently depending on ISO. It does not automatically detect ISO, but it's almost as easy. What you can do is to process a few RAW files, shot at differnt ISO, first, using different but typical nois...
