Thanks for posting your images, Jonathan. New Zealand is quite striking, and you have a nice eye for capturing its beauty. Very inspiring! |

Not only is New Zealand a beautiful country, but nearly everyone I met was exceedingly friendly. I highly recommend it as a travel destination. Jonathan Sachs Digital Light & Color

The panoramic scenes were especially breath-taking. I'm very curious to know what software you used and a little info on how you stitched your photos together. From what I observed the panoramic scenes looked perfect. My wife and I could'nt see enough of the unusual looking penquins. Thanks for allowing us to have a little peek of New Zealand. |

I use a now-discontinued program called PowerStitch. There are probably better alternatives now, but I have learned how to get very good results from PowerStitch and have not made the effort to learn other programs although I have tried quite a few at one time or another. The crested penguins are one of the world's most endangered -- they nest on the coast around the time we were there but are sadly subject to predation from introduced species such as stoats, cats and dogs. They are amazingly tolerant of humans and casually walked within ten feet of us as long as we did not move. Jonathan Sachs Digital Light & Color

When you mentioned that Stoats, cats and dogs were predators of the Crested Penguins - my reaction was: wait a minute - those penguins in the photos appeared not to be that small. However, after some fast Google researching I discovered that these fellas were a little more than 2 feet in height and only weigh 6 to 8 pounds. It's no small wonder that they are endangered.
