Color Mechanic

Color Mechanic is a selective color correction plug-in for Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. What makes Color Mechanic so powerful is that it lets you change one or more colors in an image without changing any other colors in the image and without the painstaking work of selecting the parts of the image you want to change. This type of selective color correction is both easier to use and more powerful than conventional color balancing or filtration techniques that simply apply a uniform correction to the entire image or give you a few sliders to adjust.

How It Works

Color Mechanic is very simple to use. It displays a before and after image. To adjust a color, you simply click on it in the before image. This displays a control point in the color hexagon. Then you drag the control point to the new color. The result is shown in the after image.

System Requirements & Compatibility

Color Mechanic is available for both Mac (PowerPC only) and Windows and requires Adobe Photoshop 4.0 or later, or one of the compatible programs listed below. Color Mechanic also requires that your display be configured to display at least 800x600 pixels and preferably 1024x768 or larger. Running in 24-bit or 32-bit color mode is also strongly recommended.

The following table shows the results of our compatibility testing to date. If your image editing program is not listed, it may or may not work with Color Mechanic. Feel free to try the evaluation version with your program and email us about whether or not it works so we can update the table.
